There is no age limit. We believe that meaningful learning and growth can happen at any stage of life.
The scholarship is awarded to one student for one academic year only. As the applications process is competitive, we try to give as many students as possible a winning chance. Reapplications will be considered on case-by-case basis.
Scholarship funds are disbursed directly into the student’s bank account in accordance with the structure outlined in the award letter.

Common mistakes include incomplete applications, unclear or generic personal statements, and failure to provide accurate financial information. We encourage applicants to be thoughtful, honest, and thorough in presenting their story.
Applications go through a careful review conducted by the selection committee, consisting of 5 esteemed Harvard alumni. The selection process considers academic achievement, financial need, and the applicant’s overall story and intent. Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for further evaluation before final decisions are made.
The selection process remains the same for both scholarships. The amount disbursed from the Janaki Scholarship will be towards women candidates only.
The statement of purpose you submit will be the same as the one you submitted to Harvard. The need for scholarship should be explained in approximately 500 words. Kindly also provide information about your family and their work, as well as information on how you plan to finance your studies.
The decisions are not on rolling basis. All applications are considered collectively after submissions are complete. Applicants will be informed of the outcome by the end of June 2026.
The number of scholarships awarded each year may vary. In the past we have selected up to 10 recipients. This year we are hoping to support up to 12 students. Our goal is to support as many deserving students as possible while maintaining the depth and quality of support provided.
If you choose to defer your admission, your scholarship may also be deferred, subject to review and approval by the foundation. We recommend informing us at the earliest in such cases. Amount disbursed after joining
Beyond academic excellence, we look for individuals with sincerity, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose. We value applicants who are thoughtful about their journey, aware of the opportunities they have received, and motivated to create meaningful impact in their own way.
